MaryLynn Hetherington

Mary Lynn Hetherington has served on the Fire Board since 2017, following a career as a nursing professional and labour relations representative in both Ontario and Salt Spring Island. Prior to relocating to Salt Spring Island in 2000 with her daughter, where she joined the nursing team at Lady Minto Hospital, Mary Lynn was an active member of the Ontario Nurses’ Association. In that role, she served on the bargaining team and represented members at both the Ontario Legislature and Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Since settling on Salt Spring Island, Mary Lynn has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to community service. She has served on the boards of the Salt Spring Island Legion, the Lions Club, and Croftonbrook. During her tenure on the Fire Board, Mary Lynn has acted as the Board liaison to the Greater Victoria Labour Relations Association for nine years. She also chaired the Communications and Marketing Committee, where she played a key leadership role in guiding efforts to build community support for the new Fire Hall.
