At a Special Meeting held November 10, 2020, the Board appointed Assistant Chief Jamie Holmes the Acting Fire Chief of Salt Spring Island Fire Rescue effective November 14th, 2020. The appointment is a temporary posting until Chief George returns.
Jamie joined Salt Spring Fire Rescue in 1996 as a paid-on-call member. He became a career member in 2002 and moved up the ranks to become assistant chief in 2015.
