Dispatch Update (March 21 2020)

An important update from BCAS regarding page outs.

They are now going to treat all medical calls as possible COVID -19 precautions until it can be ruled out.

If you arrive before BCAS exercise extreme caution and use proper PPE and social distancing where appropriate. (doorway 6’ Assessment and commit only one FR if at all possible) Please remember we have a CREST Radio in each BCAS car for two agency comms.

If BCAS is on scene before you please consider reaching out through dispatch to confirm if you are still required before entering.

During this COVID-19 time, for medical calls, please connect with the first responding SSIFR crew to confirm if your response is required Code 3, routine or to stand by.

***NEW*** Further to the BCEHS changes above, in discussions today, we have been advised that BCEHS is seeking approval for significant changes to response protocols in consideration of public health and FR safety. These would be temporary measures focused on ensuring the health and safety of First Responders and their communities during the COVID-19 crisis.

We will keep you updated as we receive new dispatch information.

Thank you everyone!
